This village is situated on the way to Kotappakonda. Hindus and Muslims live amicably here. Ancestors of this village erected Hindu temple in the midst of muslim locality and a Maszid in the locality of Hindus to mark the communal hormony. There are no communal tensions in this village even when the whole country reeling under this problem. 70% of the population are of Telaga/kapu/balija Community. Chilakaluripet got its name from a grass called “Chilka”. This grass is common even now in this area. Big fields of this grass were called as Chilaka Thotalu.
