  • The actual name of this temple tank is `Rudra Theertham' and not Padma theertham. Accordng to the legend, Lord shiva who was doing tapas inside the temple tank for several thousands of years came out when Guru and Vayu came on their celestial voyage, carrying with them the idol of Lord Guruvayyorappan and searching for a sacred place to install the idol. It was said that Lord Shiva guided them to decend at this place and install at the bank of this holy tank the idol and He oblidged himself to move to the other side of the tank, where we now have the Mammyiur temple.
