| GIPR Tank It is actually a small dam. The Great Indian Peninsular Railway Tank is so called because water was pumped from this place for the steam engines of the Great Indian Peninsular Railway during the times of the British Raj. Nowadays it is a favorite spot for people from the surrounding areas to come in the evenings, especially on weekends, for some peace and quiet and a whiff of fresh air. Great place to watch sunsets from, as the calm waters reflect the sky above. One can walk along the shoreline of the lake and eventually across the small dam. Be careful though, the dam has no railings and it is an awfully deep or long drop (depending on which side you fall off). On the other side one can see Haji malang gad and the lovely Sahaydri mountains. Ambernath MIDC now borders the lake on one side. Category: tank dam
