Residence designed by John Russell Pope c. 1937 in the French Manor style for Louis Frederick Bertschmann {insurance, financier}. Bertschmann served as a partner in the Bertschmann & Malory insurance brokerage. By 1951, Bertschmann and his wife Constance had moved to Tuxedo Park in upstate New York.
