  • This is an awesome park with a US Navy jet to climb on and play. Its on the corner of Vermont & State College
  • I remember kids used to be able to climb inside the jet itself. It was hollow from the intakes in the wings all the way thru the opening in the back. Back in the late 70's a kid got stuck in there and the fire dept had to break some of the concrete forming the fake jet to get him out. Ever since then they sealed up the inside by filling it with concrete. It's amazing how many kids still think this is/was a real plane. :-)
  • Actually, when I played on this jet back in the 60's it was a real plane. The engine was removed as well as and the instruments in the cockpit. It was just the metal shell of the aircraft but the most awesome thing for a 10 year old to crawl around on and pretend to be a fighter pilot! I don't know when it was encased in cement, I remember seeing it that way years ago and thought how sad; our nanny culture just can't let kids explore and have fun anymore.
  • Admiral Mitch probably flew the jet into the park for a perfect No.2 wire tailhook landing at his retirement ceremony.
