Black Mountain is located in Southern Nevada between Searchlight and Lake Mojave. Views from the summit offer some of the greatest views of Lake Mojave, a portion of the Colorado River that widens between Boulder City, NV and Laughlin, NV. You also get nice views of nearby Spirit Mountain to the south and Copper Mountain to the north, El Dorado Mountains to the west, and peaks on the Arizona side of the Colorado River to the east.
Even though Black Mountain lies within Lake Mead National Recreation Area, there is no permit needed to hike this peak.
Best time to climb would be October-April. With low elevation the rest of the year can be too hot to climb.
