  • I was stationed at RTC for basic training between October 16 and December 16 of 1977. It was an eye-opening experience to be stationed with 86 other guys and to graduate with 78 of the same guys.My Navy career started here and when I came back in 1990, it was sad to see absolutely nothing. I always wanted to go back and see it again; didn't make it in time! My son went to Great Lakes for recruit training; what a dump...

  • Yes how sad that nothing remains to reflect what was the base. My younger brother went to boot camp there in May 1973. I was stationed at the Dental Clinics (Bldg 128 & 246) in 1986/1987. Great memories of great shipmates... May her memory last for years to come.
  • I was there for basic training in June through August 1977.Man was it hot,but 35 years latter,I have to say it was one of the best life experiences to date that I have ever gone through.
  • Was there for boot camp Sep-Nov 87, then school Nov-Dec 87. Never got back to see it or take pictures before it was torn down. The training ship that was there was actually a 2/3 size frigate.
  • I was there from Sept 87 Nov 87 then NTC Orlando for A school.
