mine, interesting place, EPA superfund
The Gilt Edge gold mine was operated by Brohm Mining Company. In 1999 with the depressed price of gold, BMC informed the State of South Dakota that it no longer had the financial means to continue on-site environmental controls. The site was proposed for the Superfund National Priorities List in May 2000, and granted Superfund NPL status in Dec 2000.
