store / shop, office building, high-rise
Completed in 1974, and renovated in 2001, this tower rises 35 storeys (135 m) above Bloor and Yonge Streets. Finished in the 'internationalist' style popular in the 1960s and '70s, it houses a shopping centre, hotel, condos and 500,000 sq ft of office space, including the Consulates General of France and Germany. The HBC is connected via underground pedestrian passageway to Cumberland Terrace shops and the Yonge St. subway station.
