castle, listed building / architectural heritage
The "Yellow Palace" was built for the duchess Dorothea Sophia Dux Saxoniae Landgrafia Hasso Homburgiae (her name´s first letters are written on the front of the house) and later served for administrative functions or contained appartments for courtiers. In this building, with its impressive portal dominated by lions August von Kotzebue was born. He was one of the most successful poets of his time and wrote more than 200 plays. In 1945, the building was partly destroyed. After World War II, it was rebuilt. www.wimare.de/popup_picture.php?lang=en&city=w&page=8
