  • It is strange reading that quote from Hindustan times (about handwriting and discipline at ACS). I do not stop boasting that my school emphasized good handwriting, good work ethic, and good English (all of which stand me in good stead today). And I was one of the first to join ACS when it was started. Incidentally, there was one term, in class five, when there were only three girls in my class. Of them one is in Scotland, one is in England, and one is in the US. To this day we email each other about our days in Auxilium, trying to recall as many guys names as we can from our youngest grades (Peter Locke, T.B.Menon, Jawahar, Jaisurya, Biswajeet, Rajiv Singh, Kuldip Singh) and girls (Chandrika Pillai, Shobha Menon, Bondona Das, Sushma Varshney, Meera Bajpai, Teresa Daly), and our dear teachers: the stern Superior Alice, Sister Clara, Sister Ernestina (2), Sister Hilda (pinao accordion, Mexican dances), Sister Rose, dearest Sister Elizabeth, Sister Cleofe, Miss Norma Tapp, Miss June (the lady in blue), Miss Una Bosen (the half-Irish, beautiful handwriting, best grammar teacher ever), Mrs. Anjali Sircar, Mrs. Dasgupta, the versatile, encyclopedic, good looking Mrs. Nonda Chatterjee (Yes, the author of Penguin's Straberry Patch), the earliest Hindi teacher (a stylish Mrs. Singh), a Bengali teacher (the demure Anupama). The earliest buildings, one for the nuns (above main building) and a row of rooms in a one floor building for the Anglo-Indian teachers (most, if not all, from Bangalore, or Kolar) and that outside 'parlor.' Above all the little green bus that had to make two trips. Okay we are in our fifties now, and never joined a ex-students' club or wrote to school to thank or to reminisce. Thank god for the internet.
  • Sorry. Read "Strawberry Patch" not "Straberry Patch." Ahem, after all that good English and good work ethic and all that, couldn't edit my work before hitting, "send."
  • I am the second student from the group of three and I am in England. Another feature of the earliest building was the well. I am very proud of my school and the friends I made during those years. We keep in touch by email and on my visits to India I try to atleast speak to some whom we have lost(for sometime) in my journey. Last year I was fortunate enough to visit Kerala and there I managed to speak with Somalata who I had lost contact since leaving the school. This year I am travelling to Calcutta, lets see how many classmates and juniours I can contact. the one person who I have always kept in touch is Sanjukta, professor of English, and writer of some lovely poems. Sister Liz (Elizabeth) and Sister Hilda are two sisters that I have very fond memories of. My first Hindi film "Aan" which Sister Hilda showed us in school. She was tall and graceful and prepared us for parents evening with dancing and music. I think I could go on and on. Maybe one day we all can meet again in Auxilium and celebrate our learnings.

  • Hi.....i am Riya...(2010 batch ISC)....i am so proud & so glad that i was a part of this institution...i still remember the first day of my school when i was nervous and unwilling to leave my mother.....but my first teacher with her welcoming smile made me forget that i was away from my mother...14 years in this school is quite a long journey(and happy it is too!!) and i am sure i wont b able 2 erase the memories of my school life...i am happy that i spent the most important part of my life(school life) as an auxilian... I WILL MISS AUXILIUM.. i wil always remain grateful for whatever auxilium has done for me!!
  • As an Auxilian, I can proudly say , I am what I am only because of my school. Strangely we do not find such schools any more , where do you find such gem of teachers because of whom we still stand with our head held high. Yes, the handwriting & discipline , sense of responsibility & manners that had been instilled in us , refuses to leave us in spite of all oddities in life. I love you Auxilium Dum Dum, want to be in touch with Superior Elizabeth, & all teachers who were there in 1980 batch.
  • Respected Teachers/sisters and peers, I am the student of class VII 'C', I love you all, it is my great luck that I am one of the student of the school, here I am spending my life with full of joy and prosperous, getting all knowledge, discipline, guidance and care from the seniors, like others I am also giving my all effort to keep risen head of my school and it will on continues process till my life.

  • I am a 1975 passout. Thanks to internet that I could get in touch with all auxiliun thru it. I am working with Exide Industries Limited for last 34 years. On the verge of my retirement for the past few days I was trying to get in outch with my school mates from whom i got detached for personal upheavals. I got nostalgic when my eyes set on this site. I am desperately tryingto get in touch with Sr Elizabeth. I was nostalgic when I saw someone remembering Sr Hilda. A few days backI was referring her to my husban as a tbla player. She was the firsr woman whom I saw playing the istrumnt. Ms Una Jones. The best English teacher whose memory was full of classics of all times. Ms Teresa another english teacher whose grammar was fantastic.Mr Gupta, a cute and loving geographyteacher, Mrs Moly the strictest maths teacher one can ever have. Mrs Gomes , Bangla didimoni . My classmates Soma, Mahua, Sharmista, Sunita, Mili Kar, Mousumi, Sonali . And yes Mrs Periera Sr School Geography teacher. Hi all of you and wish you all avery happy new year 2012.

  • Students and parents gathered outside Auxilium Convent School in Dum Dum on Monday to protest the authorities’ decision to scrap the half-yearly examination and hold tests for two subjects per day along with regular classes. The school had taken the decision after question papers were leaked. The parents demonstrating in front of the school had other grievances, too. They alleged that though each student was made to pay Rs 2,000 for the construction of a science block on the premises, the authorities didn’t give them a receipt. “We repeatedly requested for a receipt for income tax deductions, but the school management didn’t oblige,” said a parent. “We noticed discrepancies in the functioning of the school recently and brought it to the notice of the principal. She hardly paid any heed to our grievances,” said C. Chakrabarty, another parent. The parents also said that students are forced to run up and down the four-storeyed building during class hours because only the top and ground floors have toilets. “The asbestos roof makes the classrooms on the top floor extremely hot and the children often fall ill. We have brought the matter to the notice of the authorities several times but they have not taken any step to address our complaints,”
  • i just opened this site to be conected to my classmates but i was disheartened to see the notes put up. Would request sisters to get back the serenity and goodwill of the school which we love so much. Pease. p
  • Hii this is Titir from 2008 batch.... I was listening to the song counting colours in the rainbow. Whenever i listen to this song my eyes get filled with tears recalling Miss Elizabeth Galiot , out class teacher in Class VIA and music teacher in Class VII. She has so much positivity in her. Her smile made our day. I miss Miss Ayesha, Miss Ratna, Miss Pamela, Miss Sita and Miss Anita. I really want to thank them with all my heart for whatever little I am today and will be in future. I miss ACS during Christmas. It used to come to life. May all my teachers and sisters be in good health and lead a wonderfull life. I wish them all the happiness in the world.
  • Could anybody kindly let me know the summer schedule of this school. when the school is going to close for summer holidayS? when the final exam is going to take place for VII standard. I waS strying to know over tel. but school authority is not willing to speak.

  • Dear sharmi, I m n ex student of this school n know the school quite well..though I passed out years back still I kip a track . During our times it ws bettr though not xcellent I wud say,bt now the situation is worst. Students r treated as nothing more than money wending machines.thrs lot of groupism n partiality among teachers. Certain highr class teachers put pressure on private tutions or else they fail n torture d students. Unrealistic demands by sisters fr money whch they term as donation fr construction etc or else students r not allowed in d exams..thz r jst a few shortcomings dat I hv listed, the list is actually huge..I think calcutta grls or loretto convent wud b btr choices .. Hope my note is of sm help 2 u, regards
  • This is according to me one of the best schools in kolkata. The disciplin in this school is remarkable.
  • Hey Thestar..thnx for u'r info..but Loretto and Calcutta girls will both be very very far from my house
  • I was a student of the 2006 batch of ACS.Today i'm married and i'm residing in delhi and beleive it or not but today when i look at children and people around i realize that auxilium created the human beings within us with all the values that a person should have....we may be lagging behind in terms of the modern world but we have the qualities and maturity of a lady from a very young age...when we spent our school days in the confined premises of auxilium,we thought those were our worst days but trust me those were the best and only those days will be the savings of your life.
  • I am presently a student of class 8. Just a few words for my school "I Love My School and All its members"
  • I m very glad to be in this school as I like the management, rules & regulations, teaching process of this school. There r really vry good sisters & teachers who always take care & help us.
  • batch 1980 ...
  • like other guardians i too want my daughter to get admission in ACS .i m trying for her admission from nursery now she is 7+ age .i am so interested that i am ready to bear all sorts of expenses just to make my daughter an auxilian .i think gold is expensive but stil people afford to get it . where there is a will there is a way.if anyone feels my dedication to the school then please show me the way to get in.i will be very grateful for the help.
  • may this school be a blessing to all......
  • I Received message that Mother Mary's School Collected Fee from the Student when the students were in Summer Vaction, but the school dint paid the fees to teachers, when teachers were on distrubuting books, when they went for invigilation even then. then think about the teachers survival for those Two Months
  • It sure feels great being able to locate my Alma mater on Wikimapia. Here's to you, Auxilium Convent, Dum Dum for making a woman out of me. Love xxx
  • Sisters and teachers of ACS DUM DUM, were the gems in our times. Whatever we are today is all for them. To name some of them from the whole lot...Sr. Superior Elizabeth, Sr. Rose, Ms. Una, Ms. Leelama, Ms. Rosy, and so many others, the list of which is too large. Thank you so much Sisters and teachers for your constant guidance to the right path and teaching us the basic manners in our lives. However, the present scenario in ACS is absolutely different. I wish I could mention some of the personalities who are a disgrace to the school. Sorry to be so harsh but I am helpless. If teachers' attitudes are unacceptable to this degree, then what better can we expect from the present Auxilians?
  • I was in upper nursery in 1966or 1967 at auxullium convent dum dum. I remember Mrs sethi as hindi teacher. Anyone from that batch. Uma Chopra
  • What is now the nursery admission fees for ACS Dumdum ? I hope it has not sky rocketed in the last 10 years... Can someone share some info?
  • any idea where Ms Una is now?
  • Rhitu Mukherjee was your batch mate
  • which year?
  • She is in Kolkata. Met her a month back. And well definitely not teaching anymore. :-)
  • It gives me immense pride to see my school in wikimapia. I am an ICSE 2000 pass out. I stay close to school and every time I pass the building I get hit by nostalgia. I miss Late Miss Sarama, who was a motherly figure to me, Miss Anju, our computer teacher and all my sisters and teachers who were a guiding light to me. I owe all my achievements to you Auxilium and am grateful to God for having planned for such a marvellous childhood. O hail Auxilium, Hail to thee... :-)
