Shoreditch Tabernacle Baptist Church: The Tab in Shoreditch comprises both the church and the centre. The faith community of the church has long been involved with social action in Shoreditch and the surrounding area, and continues to be so mainly through the running of the Tab Centre. The first Tab church was founded in 1835 on the current site but in a Georgian building. From 1880-1890’s the church extended its work building a new Victorian church and church school to the rear of the building. After suffering bomb damage in the Second World War the a new building church building replaced the Victorian church. In 2004-5 major redevelopment restored the church school, now called the Tab centre, to its current standard. In 2010 a new building project began, creating housing integrated around a new street-front building, in which the church reopened after the pandemic in 2021.
