Singri Gupteswar Temple is a prehistoric temple of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the temple was constructed by King Bana of Sonitpur. It is also said that a cow of Sankardeva's father used to give milk here, which led Kushumbar Bhuyan (father of Sankardeva) to worship Lord Shiva for a son, who was named after the Lord as Sankara.
