Gangrel Dam

Gangrel Dam is situated at 13 K.M. distant from Dhamtari city. It is built on Mahanadi river. The dam was inaugurated by Late Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India. This dam helps in irrigation of the areas of Dhamtari, Raipur and Durg. The water of the dam is also used for power generation of 10 MW. It also supplies water to Bhilai Steel Plant and new capital city Raipur.

  • My dad Sri M D Pal, is among the team of engineers who build the Dam. We lived in Gangrel & Rudri colony before he retired from services in the year 2004.
