 fire service  Add category

3-story fire station completed in 1947 at a cost of $150,000. Designed by Lewis & Churchill, it is clad in red brick. Coursed piers separate the wider eastern section, which has a large garage door housing both the ladder truck (24) and engine (1), known as the "Midtown Express" and "The Raging Bulls". The narrower western section has a smaller garage door for the Third Division command vehicle. Each unit is written in gold lettering above the garage door, which are painted bright red. The 2nd floor has three windows at the wider eastern section, and a single window at the western section. A flagpole projects from beneath the center window in the eastern section. A stone cornice runs across the 2nd floor, with a brick parapet and stone coping above, where the facade sets back. The 3rd floor is set far back to the rear of the building.
