 former train/railway station  Add category

Opened 17th October 1879; closed 2nd November 1964. Sited on a high embankment it had 2 platforms with wooden shelter on either side.
Closure to freight came in March 1957 and passenger services coming to end on the night of 26th October 1960 due to a runaway barge colliding with the bridge and destroying 2 of the impressive spans. Official closure however was not until 1964. Although in a derelict state, much of the platforms still survive, although the track has long been removed.

for many years the signal box could still be seen and explored on the site although it had become very derelict. A few years back it disappeared ....does anyone have any idea if it was 'rescued' to be used elsewhere perhaps or eventually just knocked down as 'unsafe'?
