Konganapuram

The name "Konganapuram" appears to have been named due to the dense population of "Kongu Vellalar" people and is a part in Idappadi Taluk of Salem District. Salem and the hilly region around it were part of the Chera and Kongu country in ancient times. These area were ruled by their own Kongu Kings who were the Kurunila Mannargal of ancient Tamil Nadu. Konganapuram was ruled by Palaiyakkarar, Poligars, who were later the Zamindars under the British Rule until the system was abolished after independence.

Its lie 8 kms east of Idappadi Taluk and 31 kms far from its District Main City Salem. It is 325 km far from its State Main City Chennai.

Town is well known popular for Cotton Market. The town mainly connected major roads between Idappadi to Salem and Omalur to Erode.
