Champaner Gate (Darwaja), serves as the Northern gateway to the old city of Vadodara (Baroda). This gate faces northwards towards Champaner and was named after the fort captured by Mehmud Begada. It was strategically important for the Sultans to protect the capital of Gujarat Sultanate, Champaner, from any attacks. This was among the few gates from where Elephants could pass.
