Bellandur Lake : It receives water/sewage from Ulsoor Lake, Chellaghatta Valley, Hulimavu, Doddbegur drain, Madivaala Lake, Tavarrrakere, Bellandur Lake and overflows into Varthur Lake. Bellandur Lake water is used for agriculture purpose. The morphometric features of the lake is as below:At present it is the most polulted lake of the city.A movement by the 'citizen care' & the verdict of high court BBMP is foreced to take action to clean it. it has closed no. of industry nearby.

  • As i have seen the lake is now very much polluted. we have to stop the sewage entering to this lake, before the wastewater entering this lake we have treat the waste and then let it to lake. The lake is having very good storage capacity, if we restore the lake we can also use the water as a drinking sourse. So govt. please do some thing for this lake, now the lake is almost eutropication stage because of the plants growing. Bellandur grama panchayathi also can plan for restoring this lake.
  • If govt. is not taking any action then, is there any chance of overflow of lake water to nearby apartments and houses??
  • Not only this lake/tank, all lakes in bangalore are under the same spell. What bangalore needs is a Huge Water recyling plant. Unless such plants are built around the city, there is no way one can save the splendid lakes of bangalore.
  • the cost of maintaing will come approx. to some 100 of crores the cost includes desilting, strenthening of bund and beautification. Govt will not sanction this funds so LDA IS planning and introduced EOI of adoption of lake and the adopter has to pay a lease amount with rent which will be some lakhs so on spite of developing the lake the lease has to be paid. what do you people think
  • If the sewage water does not get dumped into the lake, the toilets in your houses will overflow with poop!!! This water is treated & used for a good purpose... Thanks to the British administration and well planning in B'lore for it's best sanitary system in India!!!
  • It is not a lake anymore. It is a storage for sewage.
  • It's one of the worst sanitary systems in India. This lake serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes which may spread dengue and other diseases. Besides, it's pollution is making the groundwater around the lake terrible. If this lake is made clean, it could potentially supply a lot of Bangalore's population clean water and hence we wouldn't have to import as much water from Kaveri which is more than a hundred kilometres away. We would be saving money and would be self sufficient if this lake and similar lakes like Varthur Lake were made clean. Tourism could be developed around the lake and would hence increase the revenue from this region.
