It will be Ogee type Spillway 297 m ( 974.409 Feet ).Spillway will have 20 Redial type of Spill Gates. Bembla recently got a two-year extension for the central aid under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP). However, the dam, which is expected to water 53,000 hectares of farmland, does not have a canal distribution network yet. Started in 1992, it's one of the 38 projects in which costs were abruptly hiked during Ajit Pawar's regime in 2009. This led to the dam's cost being increased by 70%, taking it to Rs 2,100 crore.Sources in Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC) say that though work on this dam on the Bembla river is complete, as much as 630 hectares of land needs to be acquired for the canal network. Land acquisition, one of the main reasons for projects being delayed, has not even started yet.
