Abbey Labyrinth

USA / South Carolina / Moncks Corner /
 labyrinth / maze, interesting place

The labyrinth is an intricate pattern consisting of a continuous path from entrance to center. Labyrinths are used in a whole variety of religious and community traditions as places of meditative walking, prayer, relaxation, ceremony and spiritual reflection.
Cistercian monks have been lovers and workers of the land since their founding in 1098. Walking a labyrinth is a great way to experience our connection with and appreciation for the natural environment. It is part of Mepkin Abbey’s commitment to be a good steward of the land and to share the gift of our land with others. The experience of walking the labyrinth fosters the contemplative life lived at Mepkin Abbey.
