Not your typical "street circuit", this one was run on streets that were actually designed with racing in mind (e.g. no manholes, banked not crowned, etc.). Indy Lights ran here in 1997, with the idea that CART might race here in 1998 and afterwards. The '97 race was won by a little-known 22-year-old Brazilian named Hélio Castroneves, the crowds were pretty good sized, everything seemed to be in order -- then the track closed shortly thereafter.
The course is now used for the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival.
