Southwest Ranches is an incorporated town in Southwest Broward County. It is one of the newest incorporated areas (it was incorporated in 2000) of Broward County, and named after the many horse farms and training areas in the community. Because of its unincorporated history, the area also has a number of churches and plant nurseries.
As of 2004, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau was 7,342. The town includes the 2000 U.S. Census census-designated places of Country Estates, Green Meadow, Ivanhoe Estates, Rolling Oaks, and Sunshine Ranches.
