This wye is where Amtrak trains turn in order to reverse direction prior to pulling into Tampa Union Station, which is a stub-end terminal. It also serves to turn local CSX freight trains. Formed by a spur off the "A-line", or former Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL) main line, it was created when the Tampa and Thonotosassa Railroad built a 13-mile route between the two communities in 1893.
