Cabot tower

Historic Memorial

This 105 feet high tower commemorates the 400th anniversary of John Cabot's voyage to Newfoundland in America in 1497. He set sail in May in the Matthew in search of a new route to Asia.
The tower was built in 1897 and opened on 6th September 1898. It was designed by the Bristol architect William Venn Gough and paid for by the public.

I WAS IN 1997 a STUDENT FROM ALGERIA AT THE ABON LANGUAGE SCHOOL, CLIFTON, seeing this pictures make me looking back with a feeling of a big "nostalgy".
By the way, to the teachers of the Abon Language School a big hello and believe me what l've learned was very useful to me, as a university lecturer all my career in Algéria Thank you for what you gave us in 6 months.
