Richmond Farm Prison

A maximum security prison housing first offenders serving long-term sentences; its inmate population in 1986 was 119 ( www.phaseloop.com/foreignprisoners/prison-jamaica.html ).

The prison once had a large banana farm, which was later destroyed.

As of 2006, an attempt was under way regenerate the farm with crops including bananas, corn, calaloo, string beans and cucumber ( tinyurl.com/ysochp ).
