Native population of "Khatyn" was burnied alive by the german troops and collaborationists on 22nd March 1943 for aiding local partisan forces.
"Khatyn" memorial complex was opened on the 5th of July 1969 in commemoration of hundreds of belarusian villages destroyed during second world war. The total area of the complex is about 50 hectares.
