The mufti-storied Confidence Hall was constructed in 1861. Originally it was used as a fire station and library.

During its tenure as a fire station, many important political persons were employed here to include John Studebaker, Stephen Gage, and Tom Townsend. Confidence hall was constructed as a result of the previous fire house partially burning down. In addition to the fire house, during this time the building also housed several county fairs.
