This Koneri kanmai and its agricuture land are owned by the Nagarathar Temple, but temple given ownership to the N.Vairavan Patti village people to do the agriculture around 100 years back. As per the agreement, all the people do the farming need to give the "Land vari-Tax" to the temple. But nowdays as all people stopped giving the "Vari" to the temple, there is a long time court case is pending between Temple and temporary land owners.
