Ellopia

The village is Ellopia Viotia the City of Thebes, as established under the Program Kallikrates. Formerly owned by the municipality Thisbe.
It has 601 inhabitants and is situated at an altitude of 250 meters. Situated between the mountain and Mount Helicon, and is 20 km from Thiva.

It is not known the date of arrival of the first inhabitants of the settlement. During the Ottoman period, inhabited by a few farmers and breeders.
A short distance east of the village, found remains of settlements pre-Christian era. Belonged in antiquity of the State Thespian. During the Byzantine period, settled in Boeotia Illyrians, who gradually assimilated by the local population.
In the Revolution of 1821 and attended the village. The revolt failed and the inhabitants fled to the mountains to survive. The tradition says that the priest Anastasis, the village priest, fled to a cave, but the Turks found him and killed him. Since the rock is called rock of Papa Anastasi.
