Kanki is a small town under Goalpokher-II . Block. in Uttar Dinajpur district, West Bengal, India.
The village is located in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal. Mainly situated beside NH-31 accompanied by Railway that's why very easy transportation is available. The area under KANKI GRAM PANCHAYAT has a population of around 12000. Places to visit are Digambar Jain Mandir,a big Mosque named KANKI JAME MASJID, a church,lakes, and High school. Major portion of population is directly or indirectly associated with agriculture for living. It is also a hub of vegetable export, tons of fresh vegetable are exported daily. There are two cold stores for the storage of vegetables, of them is very huge. Weather is affected by its proximity to Darjeeling. In the summer, maximum temperature is approximately 40°C and during the winter it goes down to 4°C.
The town has one high school with co-education facility (kanki Shree jain Vidya Mandir),one Girl's school which is upto class 8,a town hall,two nationalised banks(PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK & INDIAN OVERSEAS BANK), six Mosques, one digambar Jain mandir.

  • Its a lovely place and my hometown...its a small village with less than 10000 people...it has one basic primary school and a higher secondary school run by Govt..places to look out for :-Digambar Jain Temple,which is one of the best in the entire north east...there is one mosque situated at the kanki market...shiv temple besides railway station...one church at Majlispur which is 3 kms away from kanki... Two nationalised banks PNB and Indian Overseas Bank are situated there...one small railway station where local trains are caught for nearby places...nearest railway stations are Kishanganj and Dalkhola...a place is always big and beautiful for someone who is born there and spends his daily life out there....thanks...
