The Temple in the “Helvetia“ Mound

tomb(s), museum, interesting place, Thracian heritage

Archaeologically studied Thracian mound.
Built during the 4th century B.C., this structure had been used as a sanctuary. However, after the latest burial, the corridor was filled with pebbles and earth. It is interesting that the two stone wings of the entrance gate, which were painted in red (symbolizing sun, day, life) on the eastward side, and black (darkness, night, death) on the westward side, have been preserved. The sacrifice of a horse had been carried out so that their blood dripped into a special furrow and the Thracians would try to predict if the next year would be fruitful and healthy.
