Current location of CP container yards. The container yards are set to be moved out soon to the new Global Transportation Yards being built east of the city by Pinkie Road.
In 2009, it was proposed that a new retractable domed stadium to replace Taylor Field would be built here. There were also rumors of a new hotel. However, the land deal with CP fell through and the proposal was no longer feasible. As of 2012, a new stadium site had been selected at exhibition grounds/Evraz Place.
The railway yards will instead be redeveloped as a new residential and commercial neighbourhood, with a pedestrian bridge linking it to the existing downtown.
