park, interesting place
A stretch of the River Lee's valley upstream of Cork City is protected for ecological and public amenity reasons, and is known as a "Green Belt" area. Walks along the Lee's southern banks are mown and have walks that pass by the Kingsley Hotel, and frequently flood harmlessly in heavy rains. North bank walks are a little more rugged, and often cross what is technically private property; this is tolerated or encouraged by the owners in these cases for public interest reasons.
Recently, the NRA have plotted a stretch of the under-construction North Ring Road that will pass through this Green Belt area, several homes, and stretches walking areas.
