Andheri Station on the Western Railway
Presently 8 railway platforms.All fast local trains halt here.
Some outbound trains leave from here too.
but if you reach this station it might take upto 10 mins just to move in / out of the station to the main road after your body rubb to 100s of other people. After coming out of the station you need to risk your life to cross the roads or to find a rikshaw.
Here i think railway officals are to blame, they could have made a large bridge at the southern side near the road bridge..... if something is not done its stampade waiting to happen if you dont believe me jut go at andheri station in the eve....to make matters worse railway officials closed the access way below the road bridge near public toilet and people have to walk till the end of platform.... and same is the case at extreme end of harbour line platform...now tell me what theese railway people want?....if they cant do anything ......why do they interfear in what public does its high time and such people should be sacked ........and given some menial work...than to manage railways......which is done by siemens.......and scada....i was a engineer working in siemens once upon a time....
This is the Most Crowded Area Of mumbai City other than Dadar Station!

Ofcourse, it is the most busiest railway station after dadar station in Mumbai City. Also as per the current pace of the commercial development at Andheri (East), there is no doubt that it will over take the leading position.
But, the main worry part is that railway authority is not ready to see that and we have not seen any infrastructure development at Andheri station. The passage to move in and out of the station is a very tough task. People rub each other to move out os the station and things are realy unsafe for the women, kids and olderly people.
For this, the authotrity in railway, BNC and BEST should come out with a plan to make it hastle free path way.
Railway could built a bridge connecting the place where buses leavs the passanger to directly the railway bridge. BMC can built some mall where hawkers can shift and leave the railway premises. BEST can develope a proper depot so that all buses leaves from there. BMC makes a proper rikshaw and taxi stand so that people need not run here and there to catch rikshaw.
A complete joint effort is required from the representatives (MLAs & MP), railway autority,BMC and BEST to make Andheri station a safe and hastle free station to travel.
Time for all the citizens to wake up for their rights!! "Jago citizens Jago" |

But there is no doubt that a lot has been done over the years. Some years back, they made the wide north FOB though the stairs leading to the platforms could not be made too wide. Also the southern FOB has been recently extended in the east so that we can come right out of the station. We have to thank the authorities for this. |
