Resurrection Center, located in Woodstock Illinois, in the scenic Bull Valley area of Northern Illinois. The Center is nestled amidst 86 acres of rolling, partially wooded land. A series of three spring-fed ponds, a four acre lake, and a labyrinth provide a lovely backdrop for reflective strolls, quiet meditation or simple relaxation.
Walking paths provide access to many of the native plant species and wildlife found in oak woods. Resurrection Center, founded in 1976, is sponsored by a Catholic religious community of priests and brothers named the Congregation of the Resurrection.
The staff of lay and religious persons creates, designs and implements a wide variety of retreat and spiritual growth programs for youth and adults - for individuals and groups seeking personal, organizational or spiritual growth.
In 2009 Resurrection Center proposed converting to a senior living facility but that proposal has been opposed by residents in Bull Valley. Plans call for converting the existing retreat into 36 individual living suites and building an addition for 50 more, as well as 23 single-family residences and 14 duplexes. The minimum residency age would be 62.
The center served for years as a retreat for high school students, but it was used less and less as high schools became more hesitant to pay the costs. The order later tried to use the center for business conventions and retreats before this latest attempt to re-purpose it.
