OCCAM has been built up on the strengths of four pre-existing groups of applied and computational mathematicians working in Oxford: the Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (OCIAM), the Centre for Mathematical Biology (CMB), the Numerical Analysis Group (NA Group) and the Computational Biology Group (CB Group). The first two groups are based in the Mathematical Institute (MI), Oxford’s Department of Mathematics, while the latter two are based in the Computing Laboratory (ComLab).
