Tsakane is a township on the East Rand, Gauteng, South Africa. Nick named "E-Mashona".

Tsakane was founded in the early 1960's when black people living close to Brakpan were moved to a new designated area. The previous residential area is fondly known as "Old Location" by Tsakane residents. The township has grown since then to a point where it is difficult to tell where Tsakane ends and where Duduza and KwaThema begins.
