founded in 1978 by Dom Gérard Calvet,osb.Construction of Sainte-Madeleine du Barroux Abbey began in 1980, in Romanesque style, in harmony with local surroundings of Provence.Completed in 1989.
Abbey joined the Benedictine Confederation 2008. Strict observance of the Rule of Saint Benedict and the Gregorian Latin liturgy, the monks of the abbey of Sainte-Madeleine Barroux perpetuate the great tradition of Western Monasticism, with 70 Monks.
Mass is Celebrated in the Traditional "Extraordinary Form". The Abbey recently made another foundation in France.
