Chengalpattu junction railway station is a railway junction of the southern section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network situated in the town of Chengalpattu, 56 kilometres (35 mi) south-west of Chennai Beach. The station falls in the Chennai railway division of the Southern Railway Zone of the Indian Railways. Officially it bears the code CGL.

    Chengalpattu station ia a major junction connetcs Arakkonam (North bound trains and villupuram(south bound trains).Most of the sub urban trains operate from chengalpattu .In mornings 5.30 to 9.00 am local trains available at 15 minutes interval and later every one hour a train and again in the evening 4.30 to 9.00 pm the frequency is at 20 minutes. Daily thousands of commuters take local train to chennai for work ,college etc. And soon chengalpattu will be converted as thane to mumbai.
