  • The business about "not being all there," is not a joke. Port Townsend is a lunatic asylum. All manner of mental cripples are dropped off here sort of like unwanted dogs on the highway. A few do find there senses again and sometimes they are lucky enough to escape, but most never leave. Example: last spring a local in a bar informed me in all seriousness that the spring equinox was special because on that day one could balance an egg on its end. Being a tourist and not one of the nuts, I smiled indulgently and didn’t even ask, “Which end?”
  • port townsend is a great place to visit AND live. i don't understand how anyone could not like it... it's a beautifully preserved victorian seaport with a very cosmopolitan feel for a small town.
