Babi Yar ravine

Babi Yar, here in Kiev, was the site of one of the worst acts of the Holocaust, in which 33'771 Kievan Jews were massacred in September, 1941 by the Nazis' "special task groups". The revine was filled with the dead bodies of those who were gunned down, and is now mostly overgrown and filled with underbrush.
