Toledo Scale Co.

The property is the former site of the long time Toledo Scale Company factory. Toledo Scale opened its first Canadian operation in 1910 and acquired the Howard Avenue lands in 1921. The plant produced small scales for the food and retail markets as well as large truck scales. During the 1960s the building was expanded several times and at one time more that 300 people were employed making scales.

In 1967 Toledo Scale was acquired by Reliance Electric of Cleveland Ohio. The plant was closed and the property sold in 1989. The buildings were demolished in 2001-03.
