  • I was in the US military and and was assigned to the 64th Engr. Corp. in 1950-1952. The Isetan Building was our barracks and work place. We had the top several floors and a department store had the lower floors. The "Mayflower Hotel" was the big hotel in that area. There was a beautiful park a few blocks away. And the train station. Small stores and "Pachinko Parlors" were all over the area. People were very poor, taxi cabs burned coal for for fuel. That was a long time ago. RB
