The Madgaon Railway Station is a junction for Konkan Railway and the South Western Railway. It's the biggest and most important railway station in Goa and one of the major stations on the Konkan Railway between Mumbai and Thiruvanantapuram. The station building, in traditional Goan style, was designed by renowned architect, Charles Correia.
The Rail line (from Verna to Madgaon) is common between South Western Railway (going through Briganza Ghats towards Belgaum, Hubli, etc.) and Konkan Railway (going towards Bhatkal, Udupi, Kerala). Shortly after here the two lines diverge away.
