Constructed in 1906, the Bennett Building was acquired by the university in 1907 with the purchase of Highlands College. For many years this building served as the administrative building and classroom building until other buildings were constructed. In 1985 the building was renovated with much of its original state being restored. Originally named the Gray Brick Building, it was renamed the Bennett Building in October, 2000 in memory of Clyde V. Bennett and in honor of Patricia Bennett. This three-story brick structure sits on the south hill of the campus adjacent to the Gatliff Building. It now houses the English department, the Offenheiser Computer Laboratory, the History Department, the Religion Department, and several classrooms.
