One of the most beautiful fort complexes.
Veerapandiya kattapomman's brother "Oomaithurai" built this imperial fort. Fought with
british troops. Great fort and a great panoramic view from the top.

  • The fort walls are being renovated by Archeology dept of India. One of the great historic spots of Tamil nadu and a symbol of the struggle for freedom. A canon in its unusable state is still on the top of this mountain pointing north.

  • Hi, Let me add certain clarifications here. 1. This fort is not built by Oomaithurai- It was built by Sethupathy kings. Oomaithurai stayed in this fort along with his brother Durai singam as a guest of Rajah of Pudukkottai. 2. The cannon in still usable condition- the firing spit has been blocked by ASI for safety. 3. The Cannon points to the east- not towards north.
