Narwar Fort is situated atop a hill, at Narwar in Madhya Pradesh, about 500 feet above ground level spread over an area of 8 km², which stands on a steep scarp of the Vindhya Range. Kachwaha Rajputs are said to have built (or rebuilt) the fort when they occupied Narwar in the 10th century. Kachwaha, Parihara, and Tomara Rajputs held Narwar successively from 12th century onwards, until its capture by the Mughals in the 16th century. It was conquered by the Maratha chief Scindia in the early 19th century.
It is now in a dilapidated condition, but the remains suggest that, in the flourishing days, it might have been only second to the Gwalior Fort in magnificence. The interior of the fort is divided by cross walls into four 'ahata' and 'dholaahata'. The architecture of the fort and palaces is basically Rajput in style with flat ceiling, fluted columns and multifold arches. The inner walls of the palaces have been decorated with bright paint and glass beads. Near the fort are the Jai Stambha, Sati monument, Ladu bungalow, Chhip Mahal, Makardwaj Tal, Kacheri mahal, Sikandar Lodi's Mosque, and Jail Kambha. Traditionally said to have been the capital of Raja Nala of the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata, the town was called Nalapura until the 12th century. Outside the walled town are memorial pillars of the Tomar chiefs.

  • @ Rajeev They are not low caste they belong form Shakya Dynasty. For information Rajput word came after 6th century before that there was no rajput and can you please explain why ? Also please refer simon commission report which states a lot of Kshatriya community as OBC, due to less education and social upliftment. So do not get confused and dont live in false pride. For Kachhi caste Islamic administrator were very cruel(unkind) so he started national language farsi(pesian) force fully n they were unable to use sanskrit pure so many variation found in many group You all can see ur registration of land (during mughal at your home rt now in farsi) also called dakhil khariz…kewala….in your village You must heard this proverb –(a)padhe farsi beche tel dekha ho karam ke khel Means-its really surprise that he has studied farsi(persina) despite unable to get job in badsah darbar (b)hath kangan ko arsi(mirror) kya padhe likhe ko farsi kya Means-if you are educated means profience in farsi else you not educated Indian culture got pain & worry again & again we forget our past. </ref> In 1921, Ganga Prasad Gupta, a proponent of Kushwaha reform, had published a book offering a proof of the Kshatriya status of the Kachhi, Murya and Kachwaha. His reconstructed history argued that the Kachhi were Hindu descendants of Kush and that in the twelfth century they had served Raja Jaichand in a military capacity during the period of Muslim consolidation of the Delhi Sultanate. Subsequent persecution by the victorious Muslims caused the Kushwaha kshatryia to disperse and disguise their identity, foregoing the sacred thread and thereby becoming degraded and taking on various localised community names. According to pandulipi(manuscript) of kasi/kachi (now varanasi) magadh (now patna) rohtas(sasaram) n gwalior etc we proved success of same root …our scholar of bhu(banaras hindu university) n dav(dayanand anglo vedic) with help of arya samaj formed organization that time called “kushwaha kshatriya mahasabha”(british-india) 1921 simon commision accept our root and ancestor history in suryavansh including 12 caste(100 gotra or sub caste i e kachhi, kachwaha, kannojiya etc )
  • this is absolutely right.
  • yes its true, for example- Lord Buddha (Kuwar Shiddarth Shakya) ... Suddhodana was the father of Gautama Buddha. He was a leader of the Shakya, who lived in Kapilavastu( present day Nepal). Linage of Lord Ram. Great Ashoka Maurya, from Mauryan empire we got National Emblem, Ashok Chakakr, Emblem now used al gvt services, currency and ranks badges of defence police. Rajput word origin is in early 6th century before that only Kshatriya word was in used according to human job. All kshatriya from this community now comes in OBC category as per India gvt rule. OBC is not any Caste/ CLAN, its just a category. I am proud to be part of Great mauryan empire and shakya dynasty.
  • We hould update the google wikipedia for the Surname "Any Singh Kushwah" is Rajaputanas or "Kushwah" Surname belons to Rjaputanas...Wikipedia should mark the diffrence between Kushwaha and Kushwah. Its realy very irritating when some kachi's met and think we are from same caste or some one search on for our surname on wikipedia and said you are la lalalalalalala..lala...Khoon khol jata hai ...man karta hai ki inki ......c..d.. I belongs to Bhind. We should take this google because in today world every one serches on internet and on internet if we search from Kushwah then it shows only the history for Kachis or koeri's.. Kachwaha: The Kachwaha are a Suryavanshi Rajput clan who ruled a number of kingdoms and princely states in India such as Dhundhar, Alwar, and Maihar, while the largest and oldest state was Amber, now part of Jaipur. The Maharaja of Jaipur is regarded as the head of the extended Kachwaha clan. There are approximately 71 subclans of the Kachwaha, including the Rajawat, Shekhawat, Sheobramhpota, Naruka, Nathawat, Khangarot, and Kumbhani. They claim descent from Kusha, the younger of the twin sons of Rama. The Kachwaha clan ruled in Jaipur right up until modern times. The last ruling Maharaja of Jaipur was Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur (1917–1970). Shortly after India's independence in 1948, Sawai Man Singh peacefully acceded the state of Jaipur to the Government of India. He then was appointed the first Rajpramukh of Rajasthan. Gotra: Gautam Kuldevi: Jamwai Mata Ishta: Ramchandraji Rajawat or Rajavat (in Sanskrit meaning royal linage) is the name of the senior sub-clan of the Kachwaha, Suryavanshi rajputs. Traditionally, the Rajawats are distinguished for their right of presumptive heirship to the Jaipur Gaddi (throne), thus the Maharaja of Jaipur belongs to this sub-clan. The Thikanas of this clan and their domain near Jaipur were known as the 'Rajawati' domain, possessing a 38-room Haveli. Rajawati lies in the ancient heartland of the Kachhwahas normally referred to kushwah thakur in bhind district chambal region Madhya Pradesh through Ranthambore bordering Narwar and encompassing Sawai Madhopur.
