This is the site of the former Cloud Nine Restaurant. This restaurant was for the wealthy and priviliged of 1960's Phoenix. The system of roads on Shaw Butte was originally constructed for the servicing of this restaurant. It burned down in the late 60's - All that's left is the concrete foundation, a grill pit and some old gas pipes. Erosion in the area has already taken some of the concrete slabs from the beautiful patio. A must see if you're in Phoenix.

  • Never was able to go there. I can remember seeing the lights of the resturant from 19th Ave. at night.
  • I've asked many other times....but man, I would LOVE to see a photo or two of what you're describing. I heard the sign was in blue neon?
  • Burnt down in the late 60's? Who wrote this piece? I was a neighborhood kid and we climbed up there to the ruins to play, that was 1966 and it was already burnt down!
