Gasoline is piped here from a refinery in Philadelphia and is stored in tanks for distribution to service stations. This facility was once itself a refinery, owned by Atlantic Refining Company. It suffered two of Lawrenceville's worst fires: one in June of 1923 raged for 26 hours, consuming 100,000 barrels of oil and injuring 80 people including 50 school children; another blaze seven months later claimed the lives of seven firefighters who fell into a tank of oil.
